In the book Beloved, Toni Morrison gives the audience, many choices to think about what is really happening in each section to get the point of what’s going on. Sethe has been through so much ever since the very beginning. She had to make a rough choice about whether she would kill her oldest daughter, Beloved. Sethe ended up killing her oldest daughter and she also tried to kill her other children, but she was stopped from doing it. Sethe’s choice had to have been the wrong choice or the right choice. This metaphor is present to show the reader how he has basically seen it all; he is experienced; he wants to tell the nation what he knows. Both poets resent strong emotions for this difficult period of time in Harlem and in the South of the United States which they express with different ways such as metaphors, comparisons, symbols, and hyperboles.
